Dr. Rev. Allen D. Smith

Rev. Allen D. Smith is currently serving in his 19th year as the senior pastor of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas.  St. John’s is a thriving congregation that is growing physically, spiritually, and numerically currently has an active membership of over 300.   

Pastor Smith’s roots began in Rayville, Louisiana where he resided and attended school for grades 1-12. He graduated salutatorian from Rayville High School in 1982.  He furthered his secular education by attending Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and in 1986 graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics.  

Pastor Smith spent the first 12 years of his career in sales and marketing working for Ortho, a division of Chevron Oil Company.  This area of his life was interrupted by a call from God.  Pastor Smith was called to leave corporate America and accept his calling to do the work of the Lord!  His biblical education includes a Masters of Divinity from Faith Evangelical Seminary in Tacoma, Washington and is currently pursuing is Doctorate of Ministry in leadership at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.

Easter Sunday morning of 1999, Pastor Smith accepted the call to become senior pastor of St. John’s.   During his time at St. John’s, he has been active in the active in the community and throughout the state.  From 2004 – 2008, he served as the state co-chair for racial profiling under governor Kathleen Sebelius.    In 2006, he received the Governor’s Martin Luther King Jr Leadership Award for the state of Kansas. 

Among his areas of service in the community are as a chaplain of Salina Police Department, on the board of Salina Human Relations, and DVAC.  He currently serves as the board president of the Martin Luther King Jr. CACFP, as the interim director of Community Housing Development Organization of Central Kansas, on the board of the Salina Economic Develop Corporation and on the youth committee of the  Salina YMCA.  

Pastor Smith has been married to Shalonda for 25 years and they are the proud parents of two children, Adria and Devin.
